Salzgitter AG, Salzgitter and Vallourec SA, Paris, signed a preliminary agreement regarding the intended acquisition of Vallourec Précision Etirage (VPE), France, a 100% subsidiary of Vallourec.  

In the third quarter, the Salzgitter Group set new benchmarks in sales and profit. The very pleasing performance of operations in the Steel, Tubes and Trading divisions and the high profit from the sale of the 17.2 % stake in the French seamless tubes manufacturer Vallourec S.A. contributed to this result.

On the grounds of Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, the construction materials manufacturer Holcim (Deutschland) AG and Schwenk Zement KG presented a slag granulation facility for Blast Furnace A to the general public.

Against the backdrop of a very firm market for rolled steel and tubes, the divisions of Salzgitter AG which operate in production and trading generated exceptionally high results in the first half of 2006.

Salzgitter AG yesterday disposed of a c. 17% stake in the share capital of Vallourec S.A.

Hövelmann & Lueg GmbH, a Salzgitter Group company, acquires Flachform Stahl GmbH steel service center from Arcelor

Boosted by a market for rolled steel, which developed much more favorably than envisaged a few months ago, and the persistently robust demand for tubes, the Salzgitter Group raised the operating results of its divisions in the first three months of 2006 as against the last quarter of 2005.

Intensive dialog with customers and partners at the Hannover Messe and Tube in Düsseldorf. The Salzgitter Group and its companies will be showing their colors at the key trade fairs this spring. Both the Hannover Messe and Tube in Düsseldorf will be taking place from April 24 through to April 28, 2006.

At a press conference in Salzgitter given to around 20 journalists, Executive Board Chairman Wolfgang Leese and Executive Board member Finance Dr. Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann presented what are record results in the history of the Salzgitter Group.
