Group Management Report and Management Report on Salzgitter AG

Only state-of-the-art airbag systems are able to reduce the consequences of a traffic accident. Even if airbags are never deployed, however, their systems still perform some incredible feats. The pressure containers inside steering wheels have to withstand a constant pressure of up to 300 bar. And in the best case, throughout the vehicle's entire life. This corresponds approximately to the pressure a frog would withstand whose laryngeal sac contracts to normal size after having been inflated to a ninety-fold volume.

Only steel is able to withstand such enormous pressure. Precision tubes produced by Mannesmannröhren-Werke meet the most stringent demands on quality and endurance − and make that small, but life-saving difference.
